This used to be a small waterfall where a rushing glacial river went over a ledge. Then the water found a chink in the rock and made it bigger and bigger until now it runs under the ledge instead of over it: voila, natural bridge. Eventually the water will collapse the bridge and it will turn into a gorge. The white stuff at the bottom of the image is not snow, but rushing water.
